Welcome to my world
I tend to clash with the world outside my own. So my personal space, my home is my cocoon - and one for others too. People usually step through the door and greet the room with a decending ‘aaahhhhhh’. It’s also home to Ed (my partner), Ash (20), Hayden (15), Chelsea (the dog); 2 sharks; 1 black ghost night fish; and 2 clown loaches – 2 black mozzie catching spiders in the one loo (we all share) and – The Black Dog Project. Come and I’ll take you on a tour …

… our home space is cosy and small and very Montessori influenced (check out this great education alternative for kids), where classrooms resemble homes. It’s signature space is calm and quiet with a variety of work nooks and open shelving full of tools for entertaining minds and hands, creating and exploring – musical instruments … our collection includes a drum kit, Didgeridoo and guitar ….

.. much of the furniture has been gathered from garage sales and verge pickups – like this big, chunky, industrial workbench (above) complete with graffitti tag too. Inside our cocoon is …

… a creative bedroom - tolerant partner!

… music and art …

… paper and pencils …

…books, scissors and string…

…blackboard and chalk …

…windows, light and sills … lounges and trees…

…flowers and bowls of things…

…cushions, desks and rugs – lamps not lights…

… brushes and bottles …

… a pooch (who spends much of her day lounging by the pool) …

…a drinking place for visitors …

…and plenty of room for dancing under the sprinklers …

…wallpaper…(which you can collect from Black Dog posts - print and stick like this) …

…stamps and of course – ink! Pop back anytime you’d like to escape and feel cocooned and cushioned from life for a while – or use some of these ideas to create your own soft world. Pass it on …
