February 22, 2017 - Small Uprising

Matilda Musical.  Music by Tim Minchin.

Just because you find that life’s not fair, it
Doesn’t mean that you just have to grin and bear it.
If you always take it on the chin and wear it, nothing will change.
Just because I find myself in this story,
It doesn’t mean that everything is written for me.
If I think the ending is fixed already,
I might as well be saying I think that it’s OK,
And that’s not right!

You have to put it right!

In the slip of a bolt, there’s a tiny revolt.
The seeds of a war in the creak of a floorboard.
A storm can begin, with the flap of a wing.
The tiniest mite packs the mightiest sting!
Every day, starts with the tick of a clock.
All escapes, starts with the click of a lock!
If you’re stuck in your story and want to get out
You don’t have to cry, you don’t have to shout!

‘Cause if you’re little you can do a lot, you
Mustn’t let a little thing like, ‘little’ stop you
If you sit around and let them get on top, you
Won’t change a thing!

Just because you find that life’s not fair, it
Doesn’t mean that you just have to grin and bear it!
If you always take it on the chin and wear it
You might as well be saying
You think that it’s ok
And that’s not right!
And if it’s not right!
You have to put it right!

But nobody else it gonna put it right for me!
Nobody but me is going to change my story!
Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty!

Bob Dylan On the meaning of destiny (pictured Bob Dylan’s art)

“It’s a feeling you have that you know something about yourself, that nobody else does.  The picture you have in your mind of what you’re about will come true.  It’s kind of a thing you kind of have to keep to your own self because it’s a fragile feeling and you put it out there and somebody will kill it.  So it’s best to keep that all inside.”

(From CBS 60 Minutes interview 19th November).

August 16, 2016 - Inner City Poet

A story about a lost star – refreshing in this age of celebrity. From the makers of another brilliant documentary,  ‘Man of Wire’ about the French tightrope walker who strings a wire between the Twin Tower buildings in New York and does the impossible.
